David Gaffney – Executive Chairman

  • A qualified chartered quantity surveyor and chartered builder by profession, with a passion for high standards of professionalism and customer service
  • Strong track record and reputation in the property sector, with public , private and plc experience
  • Significant pedigree in M&A specifically public to private, refinancing, corporate simplification, and business restructuring, as well as mainstream / social house building and commercial property investment and development, and facilities management
  • Worked as development partner with a number of lenders on distressed property work out vehicles, and exit planning for stakeholders, as consultant or asset manager
  • Created an in-house legal function within Gladedale.
  • Significant financial services experience, particularly with Bellway
  • Asset management experience of commercial and residential portfolios 
  • A strong leader,  and decision maker, with a strong belief in empowerment and working as a team, in a framework of corporate governance

2011 Establishment of the Ambassador Group
2007 to present: Kingdom Property Group

  • Chair and CEO of wholly-owned private vehicle to assist Gladedale in acquisition of certain property assets.
  • Apr 2010 - completed refinance of JV & SPV facilities with RBS, Clydesdale, and Dunfermline BS.

2002 – October 2010: Gladedale Group Holdings

  • Group CEO, working with shareholders and lender to create national residential and commercial business.  Under his stewardship, acquisitions of three public property companies (Bett Plc, £180m; Country & Met Plc, £160m; Ben Bailey Plc, £220m) as well as three private property companies and a timber-frame business, together with a ‘work out’ business for HBOS, including the reconfiguration of  the mixed use JV ’Quartermile’ development in Edinburgh (one of the largest in the UK)
  •  David led and completed a £1.2bn refinancing, debt for equity swap, and organisational restructuring (headcount reduced by 64%) with LBG, whilst running the business.  Having completed this, he intimated his intention to step down in March 2010 and appointed the Chairman and board to the company on behalf the Shareholders, stepping down in October 2010, to pursue acquisition opportunities, with private equity.

Previous significant roles in industry

  • Bellway 2000 – 2002.  Divisional MD, successfully repositioned and returned business to profitability
  • Persimmon 1997 – 2000.  Divisional MD and promoted to Northern Division board.

Gordon Coster – Managing Director

  • With over 25 years experience in the construction industry, two decades of which have been in house building.
  • An architect by training, Gordon has held senior roles in a number of large house building companies, namely Beazer, Miller, Bellway and Robertson and most recently as Managing Director of Manor Kingdom and Bett Homes.
  • Gordon joined the team in late 2010 to head up and help drive the Ambassador business predominantly on the development side.

Chris Richardson – Investment Director

  • With some 12 years of experience in the banking sector, in business origination, risk, portfolio management, and commercial and corporate finance for the property market.
  • Having worked in senior roles for RBS, HBOS and most recently Dunfermline Building Society where he managed a £250m property portfolio, Chris joined Kingdom Property Group in 2009, being responsible for its banking arrangements.
  • Chris deals with new business/finance and the operational structure of Ambassador Group
  • Works with a number of High Street lenders via an asset management arrangement.

Stephen Docherty – Commercial Director

  • A qualified quantity surveyor with 10 years experience in construction, house building and finance, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003.
  • Having joined Kingdom Property Group since its inception in 2007, Stephen has helped manage the residential and commercial portfolio throughout the UK.
  • Having worked in the UK and overseas, Stephen advises on all aspects of cost monitoring and procurement strategies for Ambassador.
